For centuries knitting is used as one of the foremost activity in preparing to welcome the newborn members of the family. We’ll look at a basic garter stitch which will help every beginner to make this warm & fuzzy baby blanket. You can knit this blanket all the way while your travelling or whenever your free, and this expanse of fabric will be done in no time.

 

Size: About 30 x 30 in. (76 x 76 cm)

Abbreviations:
k = knit
k2tog = knit 2 together
rep = repeat
sts = stitches
yo = yarn over

Step 1: Materials

  • Tweed Stripes
    • Lakeside 5 balls
    • or color of your choice
  • Circular knitting needle size 10.5 (6.5 mm), 29 in. (73.5 cm) long
  • Yarn Weight: (5) Bulky/Chunky (12-15 stitches for 4 inches)
  • Gauge: 14 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (k every row).
  • Large-eyed blunt needle
  • Knitting Needle Size: 10 or 6 mm

    Step 2: Directions

    Cast on 5 sts.
    Row 1: Knit.
    Row 2: K3, yo, k2 – 6 sts at the end of this row.
    Row 3: K3, yo, k3 – 7 sts at the end of this row.
    Row 4: K3, yo, k to end of row – 8 sts at the end of this row.

    Step 3: Final method

    Rep last row until you have 154 sts. Next Row (Decrease Row): K2, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k to end of row – 153 sts at the end of this row. Rep last row until 5 sts remain. Bind off. Finally weave the ends.
